Description
The Chartwell is a five-arm chandelier built on a central fluted column with curved scrollwork arms radiating from a cylindrical hub, finished in textured black metalwork. Each arm terminates in a shallow drip tray holding an ivory-finish candle tube, designed to take an SES (E14) candle bulb. The chandelier hangs from a black chain attached to a ceiling rose, with the chain concealing the cable run.
Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Chartwell provides ambient light distributed across five points rather than concentrated in a single source. The chandelier can be converted from chain suspension to a semi-flush mount by removing chain links, bringing the fitting closer to the ceiling in rooms where a full drop would sit too low. The scrollwork and wire-bound detailing on the arms give the fitting a traditional appearance that pairs with period properties, country-house interiors and rooms furnished with oak, walnut or painted timber furniture.
The black finish is textured rather than glossy, softening reflections and giving the metalwork a forged appearance. The ivory candle tubes contrast against the black frame, making the bulb positions visually distinct when the chandelier is unlit. The fitting weighs approximately 3kg when fully assembled and requires a ceiling rose or joist fixing capable of supporting that load. Each of the five bulbs is sold separately, allowing control over light output and colour temperature depending on whether LED, halogen or decorative filament candle bulbs are used.
Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Chartwell takes five SES (E14) candle bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 3-5W and 2700K for a traditional warm glow, though decorative filament candles are also common.
Can it be fitted to lower ceilings?
Yes. The chandelier is supplied with a chain suspension but can be converted to a semi-flush mount by removing chain links. This brings the fitting closer to the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with lower ceiling heights where a full drop would obstruct headroom.
What room size does it suit?
The Chartwell is sized for medium to large rooms, typically 4m x 4m or above. In smaller rooms the fitting may dominate; in very large spaces a larger chandelier or multiple pendant lights may be more balanced.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs used. If LED candle bulbs are chosen, check they are marked as dimmable and pair them with an LED-compatible dimmer switch. Halogen and traditional filament bulbs are inherently dimmable on standard dimmer circuits.
