Description

The Carisbrooke is a six-light chandelier with curved black metal arms radiating from a central column, each arm terminating in a shallow drip tray and an ivory candle tube housing an E14 bulb. Hand-bound wire drapes loop between the arms, creating the visual framework of a traditional candelabra design translated into a ceiling fitting. The black finish is applied across the metal frame, chain and canopy.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height spaces with ceiling heights from 2.6m upwards, the Carisbrooke provides ambient and decorative light rather than task illumination. The 610mm diameter suits tables of 1.4-1.8m length when hung 700-800mm above the surface. The adjustable drop ranges from 645mm minimum to 2075mm maximum, giving flexibility across ceiling heights from standard residential to vaulted or gallery spaces. A flush convert system is included, allowing the chandelier to be installed as a semi-flush fitting in rooms with lower ceilings where a suspended drop is impractical.

Each of the six arms takes an E14 small Edison screw candle bulb up to 60W (bulbs sold separately). The ivory candle tubes give the appearance of traditional wax candles without the drip hazard, and the hand-bound wire drapes add a handcrafted detail that differentiates this from mass-produced pressed-metal chandeliers. The black finish pairs with both traditional interiors looking for a Gothic or wrought-iron aesthetic and contemporary spaces using black metalwork as an accent. Optional glass shades are available separately to soften the light output and add a further layer of decoration.

The chandelier takes six E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K) to replicate the look of candlelight without the heat output of traditional incandescent bulbs.

Can it be used in rooms with standard ceiling heights?

Yes. The chandelier includes a flush convert system that allows it to be installed as a semi-flush fitting with a 645mm minimum drop, suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4-2.6m. For taller ceilings the drop is adjustable up to 2075mm by shortening the chain during installation.

Are glass shades included?

No. The chandelier is supplied with ivory candle tubes only. Optional glass shades are available separately from Elstead Lighting and can be added to soften the light output and change the visual appearance of the fitting.

What table size does it suit?

The 610mm diameter works best over dining tables of 1.4-1.8m length. For tables longer than 1.8m, two chandeliers spaced along the table or a larger multi-light fitting may provide better visual balance and light coverage.
