Description
The Brindleigh medium table lamp has a 415mm Tiffany-style shade in multicoloured leaded glass on a metal base, standing 630mm tall. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs sit inside the shade, supplied separately, which is unusual for a table lamp and gives it the output of a small ceiling light. The width and height put it in proper table lamp territory rather than accent lamp territory, and at 3.6kg it is weighted to stay where you put it.
We would use this on a sideboard, a hall console, a wide side table beside a sofa, or a bay window where it can be seen from the street as well as the room. Two lamps mean it can carry a corner on its own in the evening, so it is a good option in a sitting room where you would rather not use the ceiling light at all. It suits period rooms and works well against deeper paint colours, which give the glass something to sit against. Rated IP20, it is for dry indoor rooms.
Each glass panel is cut and leaded individually before being soldered into the frame, so the colour balance and the run of the seams vary between shades. The base and shade carrier are metal. It is Class 1, so it uses an earthed connection, and it is not rated for dimming, so run it from a standard switch. Dust the glass with a dry, soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth sparingly, keeping polish off the solder. A Brindleigh floor lamp and two globe pendants share the pattern if you want to build a room around it.

Frequently Asked
How big is it?
The shade is 415mm in diameter and the lamp stands 630mm tall. It weighs 3.6kg, which keeps it steady on a console or sideboard.
Why two bulbs?
Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs, supplied separately, give a wider and brighter spread than a single lamp, enough to light a corner without the ceiling light.
What is the shade made from?
Cut pieces of coloured glass, leaded and soldered into a frame in the Tiffany-style method, on a metal base.
Is it dimmable?
No, it is not rated for dimming. Use it with a standard switch and choose bulb output to suit the room.
How do I clean the glass?
Dust with a dry, soft cloth and lift fingerprints with a barely damp cloth, drying straight away. Avoid sprays and abrasives near the solder.
