Description
The Brindleigh is a medium flush ceiling light with a multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass shade held in a metal frame. It measures 415mm across with a projection of just 170mm, so it sits tight to the ceiling and gives up very little head height. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs sit behind the glass, and bulbs are supplied separately, which lets you pick the brightness and warmth you want. The panels are cut individually and leaded together, so the light picks up colour as it passes through and the shade keeps its pattern even when the fitting is off.
Because it is a flush mount rather than a drop pendant, it earns its place in rooms where a hanging light would sit too low. We see the Brindleigh used on landings, in hallways, in bedrooms with sloping eaves and in living rooms with ceilings under about 2.4 metres. At 415mm it is generous enough to hold a hallway on its own, and it works well in pairs down a longer corridor. The two-bulb output gives a good level of ambient light for general use.
The shade is built from cut glass pieces joined with lead and set into a metal surround, and at 2.6kg it is light enough for a standard ceiling rose fixing. Dust it with a dry soft cloth or a clean brush, and use a barely damp cloth on the glass if it needs more, drying straight after. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams, which dull the lead lines. It is rated IP20, so keep it to dry indoor rooms. A matching Brindleigh pendant and wall light carry the same glass through a hall and landing.

Frequently Asked
What is the shade made from?
Multicoloured leaded glass in the Tiffany style, cut into panels and joined with lead, then set into a metal frame. The colour is part of the glass rather than a printed finish.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a dry soft cloth or a soft brush. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and dry the glass and lead lines straight after. Avoid solvents, ammonia-based sprays and abrasive creams.
Will it suit a low ceiling?
Yes. It projects 170mm and measures 415mm across, so it sits close to the plaster and is a sensible choice where a pendant would hang into the room.
Which bulbs does it take?
Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs, not included. Choose dimmable bulbs if you plan to run it on a dimmer, and a warm colour temperature to suit the glass.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, so keep it to hallways, landings, bedrooms and living rooms.
