Description

This is a standard brushed steel UK wallplate with a gold plated HDMI socket on the front and a female tail to the rear. It fits a standard single mains back box, so it slots into the same opening you would use for a plug socket. We supply the fixing screws in the box, which keeps the job simple. The tail sits 15mm from the back of the module, giving you room to connect a cable behind the wall without much fuss.

We think this is a tidy way to run an HDMI feed to a display in another part of the room. Instead of trailing wires across the floor or draping them down a wall, you route the cable behind the plasterboard and plug in at the plate. The gold plated contacts help keep a clean signal, and the plate handles resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with a maximum bandwidth of 18Gbps, so it copes with 4K sources.

The steel finish suits domestic, commercial and educational settings, whether that is a home cinema wall, a meeting room screen or a classroom projector. In the UK we usually call it a wallplate, while in the US you may see it listed as a wall plate or faceplate, and the HDMI socket is the same connector on both sides of the Atlantic. The plate measures 86 x 86 x 150mm including the rear tail and weighs 52g.
