Description
The AV:Link MSH40 is a full sized hi-fi headphone built for everyday listening and shared use. It has a mono/stereo switch, so you can send audio to both ears or just one, plus independent left and right volume controls that let you balance each side to suit your ears or the source. The padded headband is adjustable, and the circumaural earpads (the cushioned cups that sit around the ears rather than on them) can be moved to fit comfortably over longer sessions.
Sound comes from 40mm Mylar speakers paired with anisotropic ferrite magnets. With a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, 32 Ohm impedance and 105dB sensitivity, the MSH40 works well with a wide range of players, computers and audio gear. Power handling is rated at 100mW. The single side coiled lead measures 1.2m and terminates in a 3.5mm stereo jack (the UK 3.5mm plug is the same as a US 1/8-inch plug), so it plugs straight into phones, laptops and tablets.
A 3.5mm to 6.3mm stereo jack adaptor is included, which lets you connect to larger sockets on amplifiers, mixers and hi-fi separates. The robust construction and steady sound quality make these a common choice in the education sector, where headphones see heavy use across many users. They suit language labs, computer rooms and general listening at home or at a desk.

Frequently Asked
What does the mono/stereo switch do?
It lets you play audio through both earcups in stereo, or route the sound to a single side in mono. This is handy for shared listening or specific teaching tasks.
Can I adjust the left and right sides separately?
Yes. The MSH40 has independent left and right volume controls, so you can set each earcup to a different level to suit your hearing or the source material.
What connector do the headphones use?
They fit a 3.5mm stereo jack (the same as a US 1/8-inch plug). A 3.5mm to 6.3mm adaptor is supplied for larger sockets on amplifiers and mixers.
Are these on-ear or over-ear headphones?
They are circumaural, meaning the earpads sit around your ears rather than pressing on them. This style tends to feel comfortable during longer listening.
Will they work with my laptop or phone?
Yes. With 32 Ohm impedance and 105dB sensitivity, they run well from laptops, tablets, phones and standard audio players via the 3.5mm jack.
What is the cable length?
The single side coiled lead measures 1.2m and connects from one earcup only, which keeps the other side clear.
