Description

This AV:Link flat patch lead is a Cat6a FTP ethernet cable measuring 10m, built with pure oxygen-free copper 30AWG conductors. The twisted pairs each carry an individual aluminium foil screen, which protects the signal from alien crosstalk and interference from nearby cables. That shielding matters most in busy installations where lots of runs sit close together, and it helps keep data clean over the full length of the lead.

The cable supports frequencies up to 500MHz and high-speed data transmission up to 10Gbps, so it suits home networks, offices and professional setups alike. The low-profile flat design is the main reason to choose it: at 7.6mm wide and just 2.6mm thick, it slips into narrow trunking and sits neatly when you chase it across walls and ceilings. If you are running cable under carpet or along skirting, the flat shape stays discreet where a round cable would bulge.

Each end uses a snag-free RJ45 connector, so the plug slides in and out of ports without the retaining clip catching. Ethernet cable is sometimes called a network patch lead or LAN cable, and all describe the same thing here. This is the 10m length in white, part of our wider range of flat Cat6a leads. Shorter versions arrive in a retail-friendly sealed bag, making them tidy to store or resell.

Frequently Asked

What speed does this cable support?

It handles data transmission up to 10Gbps and frequencies up to 500MHz, which covers standard and high-speed home and office networks.

Why choose a flat cable over a round one?

The flat design is only 2.6mm thick, so it fits into narrow trunking and hides neatly under carpet, along skirting or when chased into walls and ceilings.

What does FTP shielding do?

FTP means each twisted pair carries an aluminium foil screen. This protects the signal from alien crosstalk and interference from nearby cables.

Are the connectors easy to unplug?

Yes. The RJ45 connectors are snag-free, so the retaining clip does not catch when you pull the lead out of a port.

What conductors are used inside?

The cable uses pure oxygen-free copper 30AWG conductors in a twisted pair layout.

Is this cable backwards compatible?

Yes. Cat6a works with Cat6, Cat5e and earlier equipment, so you can use it with older routers, switches and devices.
