Description

This AV:Link Cat5e patch lead connects your network devices with an RJ45 plug at each end, ready to link routers, switches, computers and games consoles. It measures 5.0m, giving you room to run cables between rooms or reach across a desk without stretching. The lead carries 100/1000Base-T ethernet, so it works with standard home and office networks running at up to gigabit speeds.

The conductor is solid 24AWG copper clad aluminium in a twisted pair layout, which is the standard construction for Cat5e cabling. Each core measures 0.51mm in diameter, arranged as four twisted pairs, and the finished lead has an overall diameter of 5mm. The UTP (unshielded twisted pair) design keeps the cable thin and flexible, making it easy to route behind furniture or through cable tidies. A patch lead like this is sometimes called a patch cord or network cable, and the connector is the RJ45 plug used on almost all wired ethernet gear.
