This AV:Link Cat5e patch lead connects two devices over a wired network using RJ45 plugs at each end. It carries 100Base-T and 1000Base-T (Gigabit) ethernet, so you can link a computer, router, switch, games console or smart TV without relying on Wi-Fi. At 1.0m it suits short runs between kit sitting close together, such as a router and a nearby set-top box.

The cable uses solid 24AWG copper clad aluminium twisted pairs in an unshielded (UTP) build. There are four twisted pairs, each with a core diameter of 0.51mm, giving an overall cable diameter of 5mm. The twisting helps keep signal steady across the run, and the lead is rated to carry data at GHz speeds for reliable everyday networking.

A patch lead (sometimes called a patch cable or network cable) is simply a length of cable with a plug on each end, ready to plug straight in. Shorter lengths in the range come in a sealed retail bag, so they arrive tidy and easy to store. The RJ45 plugs push in and click to hold, and you can unclip and move the lead whenever your setup changes.
