Description
The Alton is a 388mm picture light with an integrated 6.6W LED inside a slim cylindrical head, mounted on an adjustable arm and circular matt black backplate. The head pivots on the arm to direct warm 3000K light down onto artwork, prints, photographs or mirrors mounted below it. The LED runs the full length of the 388mm tube, casting even light across the width of the frame without hotspots.
Designed for frames up to 600mm wide, the Alton suits home offices, hallways, bedrooms and living rooms where individual artworks or family photographs need accent lighting. The 211mm projection from the wall allows the light to clear typical frame depths and direct the beam onto the canvas or print surface rather than the glass. The circular backplate mounts directly to the wall above the frame, with the cable running back into a concealed junction box or surface-mounted rocker switch.
The matt black metal finish minimises reflections and pairs cleanly with black frames, dark walls and contemporary gallery-style interiors. The 6.6W LED output is fixed at 3000K colour temperature, which renders warm tones in oil paintings and colour photographs accurately without the cooler blue cast of daylight-temperature LEDs. The integrated LED cannot be replaced, but the 20,000+ hour lifespan typically outlasts the wall colour or frame it's lighting.

Frequently Asked
What size frame does it suit?
The 388mm light bar suits frames up to 600mm wide. For larger artworks, Elstead produces a medium and large version of the Alton with longer tubes.
Can the light angle be adjusted?
Yes. The cylindrical head pivots on the arm, allowing the beam to be directed down onto the artwork surface. The angle can be adjusted after installation to suit the frame depth and wall position.
Is it dimmable?
The integrated LED is compatible with most trailing-edge dimmers, but dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model. Contact us before pairing with a dimmer if you need confirmation for your installation.
Can the LED be replaced?
No. The LED is integrated into the light bar and cannot be replaced. The LED lifespan is rated at 20,000+ hours, which equates to approximately 10-15 years of typical residential use before noticeable output degradation.
