Description

The Alderworth inverted pendant in beige is a three light ceiling light with a 410mm Tiffany-style bowl in soft neutral leaded glass, hung open side up so the light washes the ceiling first. The dragonfly motif runs across the glass, wings outstretched, drawn in slim leaded pieces that show clearly when you look up into the bowl. The drop adjusts from 600mm to 1000mm, and it takes three 60W E27 GLS bulbs, supplied separately. It is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer.

Beige keeps the pattern readable without putting strong colour on the ceiling, which is useful in rooms you have already decorated carefully. Use it as the main light in a sitting room, dining room, study or wide landing with height to spare. Because the bowl faces upwards, there is no glare from below, so it is a comfortable light to sit under for long stretches. The fitting weighs 2.9kg and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Each glass piece is cut and leaded on its own, then soldered into a metal frame and hung on three chains from a metal ceiling rose, so the tone and the leadwork shift a little between bowls. It is Class 1, so it needs an earth connection, and we would have a qualified electrician install it. Wipe the inside of the bowl with a dry, soft cloth fairly often, as upward facing shades gather dust, and use a barely damp cloth on marks. Blue and flame Alderworth colourways are available, along with flush ceiling lights in the same pattern.
