Description

The Aegean is a 3-light chandelier built around hand-forged aged brass scrollwork, with three upward-curving arms ending in candle sleeves for E14 bulbs and cut-glass droplets suspended beneath each drip tray. A central cage formed from curved brass ribs encloses the upper section, with a twisted brass finial extending below the body. The aged brass finish shows darker tonal variation in the recesses of the scrollwork, giving the metal depth under both daylight and lamplight.

Designed for dining rooms, hallways and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the chandelier provides ambient light from three E14 bulbs (sold separately) distributed across a 380mm diameter. The drop is adjustable on installation from 500mm to 975mm using the 720mm chain, allowing the fitting to be positioned 700-800mm above a dining table or higher in an entrance hall. The chandelier fits standard UK ceiling roses and the chain conceals the cable run.

The hand-forged scrolls show hammer marks and slight asymmetry between the three arms, which is characteristic of metalwork formed over an anvil rather than cast. Each cut-glass droplet catches and fractures light from the bulbs, adding points of reflected brightness around the brass frame. The aged finish on the brass sits between polished and antique — warmer than polished brass but less oxidised than fully antiqued finishes, pairing well with oak furniture, traditional wallpapers and neutral-toned interiors.

What bulbs does the Aegean take?

The chandelier takes three E14 small Edison screw bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for traditional interiors.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop of 500-975mm allows the chandelier to suit rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. For dining tables the fitting typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with 2.4m ceilings. Higher ceilings can accommodate a longer drop.

Is the aged brass finish consistent across all pieces?

The aged brass finish shows natural tonal variation where the metal has been worked and oxidised. Darker patina collects in the scroll recesses and around joints. This variation is intentional and differs slightly between individual chandeliers due to the hand-forged metalwork.

How is the brass maintained?

The aged finish is designed to darken naturally over time. To preserve the current patina, dust with a dry microfibre cloth. Polishing with brass cleaner will remove the aged finish and return the metal to a brighter tone, which may not be desired.
