Description

The Aegean is a 2 light wall light built around a circular aged brass backplate, with two scrolled arms extending outward in a symmetrical curve. Each arm ends in an aged brass candle sleeve fitted with a clear acrylic drip tray, with cut-glass droplets suspended from the scrollwork and the central decorative finial. The fitting takes two E14 candle bulbs (sold separately).

Designed for hallways, landings, living rooms and bedrooms where wall-mounted accent lighting is needed, the Aegean works as a pair flanking a fireplace, mirror or doorway, or singly in narrower passages. The 220mm height and 320mm width suit walls where space is available either side of the fitting. The scroll arms project approximately 150-180mm from the wall, so clearance for door swings and passageways should be checked before installation. The backplate covers a standard UK single-gang wall box.

The aged brass finish is applied to solid metal components and shows a deliberately tarnished, antique patina rather than a polished shine. This gives the fitting a warm bronze-gold tone that softens with age and pairs well with heritage interiors, warm neutrals and traditional colour schemes. The cut-glass droplets catch light from the bulbs and throw small points of reflection onto nearby surfaces. The hand-forged scrolls show slight variation in curvature between individual pieces, a characteristic of the forging process rather than a defect.

What bulbs does it take?

The Aegean takes two E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K) to replicate traditional candlelight.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen. LED E14 candle bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers. Check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer circuit.

How is it fitted to the wall?

The backplate fixes to a standard UK single-gang wall box with screws concealed behind the decorative plate. The fitting is wired into a wall-switched lighting circuit and the backplate covers the back box once installation is complete.

Will the aged brass finish tarnish further over time?

The aged brass finish is already tarnished as part of the design. It may darken slightly with exposure to air and handling, which is characteristic of the material. To preserve the existing patina, avoid polishing or using brass cleaners.
