Description

The Adastra S460-WIFI is a Class-D streaming amplifier built for playing music across two separate areas from one unit. It houses two individual stereo amplifiers, each with its own volume control, so you can run different levels in, say, a bar and a reception area at the same time. Output is rated at 4 x 60W into 4 Ohms, or 4 x 30W into 8 Ohms, with speaker connections made via L1, R1, L2 and R2 screw terminals (Euroblock).

Streaming is the main draw here. Built-in WiFi (802.11b/g/n) and a wired RJ45 LAN connection let you send music, podcasts and internet radio to the amplifier, controlled from your Android or iOS phone using the free WiiM Home app. Once a playlist or subscription service is cast, playback continues even after the phone is disconnected, which suits background music that needs to keep running. Bluetooth 5.0 is also on board for quick wireless streaming straight from a phone or tablet.

For wired sources, there is a line input (RCA phono) for a TV, CD or DVD player, plus a USB input for playing stored tracks. Line outputs (RCA) for both zones let you feed the signal on to other equipment. The processor is a MediaTek MT7688 running at 580 MHz, with sampling up to 192kHz and 24-bit. It runs on a 110-240Vac supply and comes with an IEC lead and UK plug. Measuring 280 x 237 x 44mm and weighing 1.772kg, it is a practical choice for cafes, restaurants, house parties and similar spaces where flexible multi-source music is needed.
