Description

The Adastra RS480 is a 100V line slave amplifier built for medium to large installations. It takes standard line level audio from a mixer or an RM series mixer amplifier, so you can add power to a system without adding another source. As a Class-D design it stays efficient and lightweight, and it fits a standard 19" rack in a 2U housing. The RS480 delivers 480W, sitting at the top of the RS range alongside the 120W, 240W and 360W models.

Line level inputs connect via RCA sockets or hard-wired removable screw terminals, also known as Euroblock terminals. A separate removable screw terminal handles 100V input, which lets you extend an existing 100V installation by wiring directly to the speaker feed, or run a long distance feed using standard double-insulated cable. Slave outputs can be cascaded onto further RS slaves, so you can build the system out as far as the job needs. A 24V terminal connects to a security or alert panel to mute the output during alarm triggering.

Speaker outputs run at 100V or low impedance, stable down to 2 Ohms, so you can connect multiple low impedance speakers if you prefer that approach. Master volume gives you level control on the front, and THD stays below 1.0%. Frequency response covers 90Hz to 20kHz on the 100V output and 17Hz to 90kHz at 2 Ohms. Power comes from a 175-264Vac 50Hz IEC supply. Whether you are powering a fresh install from a mixer output or expanding what you already have, the RS480 slots into the chain cleanly.

The RS480 fits a standard 19" rack and takes up 2U of space. The lower power RS121 and RS241 models are 1U, while the RS360 and RS480 are 2U.

Can I connect low impedance speakers as well as 100V?

Yes. The speaker outputs run at 100V or low impedance, stable down to 2 Ohms, so you can wire multiple low impedance speakers if that suits your setup.

How does the RS480 work with an alarm system?

A 24V terminal is provided for connection to a security or alert panel. When the alarm triggers, the amplifier output mutes so voice announcements can take priority.
