Description

The Adastra ML622 is a 1U rack-mountable mixer built for installed sound systems and conference work. It gives you six switchable mic or line inputs plus two stereo auxiliary inputs, so you can bring together microphones, media players and other sources on a single unit. Each of the six main channels has its own level control and switchable phantom power, meaning you can run condenser mics alongside dynamic ones without powering the whole board.

Connections cover most installed setups. The main outputs are stereo XLR and a mono 6.3mm jack (a 1/4-inch jack in US terms), with a separate stereo RCA record output for capturing your programme. The two aux inputs use L+R RCA (phono) connectors, and master bass and treble tone controls sit alongside the master level for shaping the overall sound. Powering is flexible too, with a standard 100-240Vac IEC mains inlet or a 24Vdc terminal option for backup or vehicle-based systems.

Audio performance is honest for the type. Frequency response runs from 20Hz to 18kHz on the mic channels and wider on line and aux, with THD at 0.05% and signal-to-noise ratios of 55dB on mic and 60dB on aux/line inputs. Phantom power is +20Vdc and switchable per channel. The unit measures 482 x 130 x 44mm and weighs 1.43kg, fitting a single rack space. You can use it as a standalone master mixer or as an expansion mixer feeding a larger system.

Frequently Asked

Can the ML622 power condenser microphones?

Yes. Each of the six mic/line channels has individually switchable phantom power at +20Vdc, so you can run condenser mics on some channels and dynamic mics on others at the same time.

How many rack spaces does it take up?

It is a 1U unit, measuring 482 x 130 x 44mm, so it fits a single space in a standard 19-inch rack.

What output connections are available?

Outputs are stereo XLR, a mono 6.3mm jack (1/4-inch), and a stereo RCA record output. This lets you feed a main system and capture a recording separately.

Can I run it without mains power?

Yes. As well as the 100-240Vac IEC mains inlet, there are 24Vdc terminals for running from a DC supply, which suits backup power or installed and mobile systems.

Is this a master or expansion mixer?

It works as either. You can use the ML622 as a standalone master mixer, or link it as an expansion mixer to add channels to a larger installed setup.

Are the aux inputs mono or stereo?

The two aux inputs are stereo, using L+R RCA (phono) connectors, so they suit line-level sources such as media players.
