Description

The Adastra COM47 is a gooseneck conference and paging microphone that comes complete with a solid base unit. It's built for meeting rooms, reception desks and public address setups where you need clear speech from a fixed position. The gooseneck assembly lets you angle and position the capsule exactly where you want it, so the person speaking stays comfortable and the pickup stays consistent.

At the heart of the COM47 is a high quality back-electret condenser capsule with a cardioid (unidirectional) polar pattern. This helps it focus on the voice in front of it while rejecting sound from the sides and rear, keeping paging and conference audio clean. The base unit has an electronic latching paging switch, and the collar illuminates to show when the microphone is live, giving both the speaker and the room a clear 'on air' signal. Connection between the microphone and base is via XLR, and an XLR to XLR lead is supplied in the box.

Power is flexible. You can run the COM47 from 2 x AAA batteries fitted in the base (supplied), or from external phantom power between 9 and 52Vdc, so it fits neatly alongside most mixers and paging amplifiers. The base measures 115 x 139 x 50mm and the microphone itself is 435mm long with a 21mm diameter, giving enough height to reach a seated or standing speaker. Total weight is 560g, keeping the base stable on a desk or lectern during use.

What does the illuminated collar do?

The collar lights up to show when the microphone is live, giving a clear 'on air' indication to both the speaker and anyone else in the room.

It uses a cardioid (unidirectional) pattern, so it picks up the voice in front of it while rejecting sound from the sides and rear.

How does the microphone connect to the base?

The microphone connects to the base via XLR, and an XLR to XLR lead is supplied so you can link the base to your mixer or paging amplifier.

What is the paging switch for?

The base has an electronic latching paging switch, so you can toggle the microphone on and off for announcements without holding a button down.
