Description

The Adastra BG5A-W is an active stereo speaker set for indoor background music and smaller PA jobs. It comprises an active main unit and a passive satellite speaker, joined by the supplied 3m speaker cable. Both cabinets are moulded ABS with a powder-coated steel grille, and each houses a 5 inch (125mm) full-range driver with a reinforced paper cone. Rated output is 2 x 20W RMS, with a frequency response of 100Hz to 20kHz and 85dB sensitivity at 1W/1m.

Connection is straightforward. You feed audio into the main unit via L+R RCA phono sockets or a 3.5mm stereo jack, both at line level, so a phone, laptop or mixer plugs in without fuss. The main unit carries the on/off switch and a rotary volume control. Power comes from the included 12Vdc 3A in-line mains adaptor, which connects through a 5.5 x 2.5mm DC jack. This low voltage setup keeps installation safe and simple, with the mains adaptor sitting on a Figure 8 (fig.8) lead.

Each speaker measures 227.5 x 156 x 152.5mm (HxWxD) and the set weighs 3.274kg. Wall mounting brackets and hex screws are supplied, with magnetic covers for a tidy finish or standard screw caps if you want quicker fitting and angle adjustment. The white finish suits shops, cafes, offices and reception areas where you need clear background sound without a large system.
