Description

The Knightsbridge T8BLED12 is a 615mm (2ft) LED batten light with an integrated 10W LED light source producing 1200 lumens at 4000K cool white. The fitting replaces traditional single-tube T8 fluorescent battens in garages, workshops, utility rooms and storage areas where functional overhead lighting is needed without decorative detailing.

The batten mounts directly to ceiling joists or batten boards using the pressed steel mounting bracket at each end. The opal polycarbonate diffuser covers the full length of the LED strip, spreading the 120° beam angle across the width of a typical single garage bay or workshop bench without creating hard shadows or visible LED hotspots. IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only.

The white-finished pressed steel body measures 60mm wide by 85mm deep, giving a lower profile than older fluorescent battens with separate ballast housings. The constant-current driver is integrated into the housing and requires only mains 230V 50Hz connection — no separate control gear or starter mechanisms. The LED strip is rated for 50,000 hours at L70B50, meaning the light output drops to 70% of initial brightness after approximately 50,000 hours of continuous use under typical operating conditions.

Yes. The 615mm length matches standard 2ft T8 fluorescent battens. The integrated LED removes the need for separate tubes, starters and ballasts. Existing mounting points can usually be reused, though wiring must be checked for compatibility with the constant-current driver.

Is it suitable for a garage or workshop?

Yes, provided the space is dry and indoors. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture, so it cannot be used in damp garages, outdoor canopies or areas subject to condensation. For those applications, an IP65-rated batten is needed.

What light output does 1200 lumens provide?

1200 lumens at 4000K cool white provides functional task lighting over a workbench or general visibility in a single garage bay. For larger workshop spaces, multiple battens spaced at 1.5-2m intervals give more even coverage.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The fitting is designed as a complete unit with a 50,000-hour rated life, after which the entire batten would typically be replaced.
