Description

The Beam is a 130mm spherical outdoor table lamp with an opal white glass globe sitting on a cylindrical white metal base. An integrated LED inside the globe provides 3000K warm white light through the frosted glass, turning the entire sphere into a diffused light source. The IP44 rating protects the lamp from rain splashes and damp conditions, making it suitable for covered terraces, balconies and patios.

Designed for outdoor dining tables, side tables on decks, and low garden walls where portable ambient light is needed after dark, the Beam provides enough illumination to see food and faces without the glare of a focused bulb. The 130mm diameter keeps the lamp compact enough to sit on a table without dominating the available surface, while the spherical form distributes light evenly in all directions rather than projecting it upward or downward.

The opal glass is thick enough to resist minor knocks and the metal base houses the LED driver and switching mechanism. A small toggle switch on the base turns the lamp on and off without needing to reach a mains socket. The white powder-coated finish on the metal base resists moisture and corrosion in typical UK outdoor conditions, though the lamp should be brought indoors or stored under cover during prolonged freezing weather. The integrated LED is rated at 3000K, which sits between the warmer 2700K of traditional incandescent and the cooler 4000K of daylight white.

Is the Beam battery-powered or mains-powered?

The lamp plugs into a mains socket via a cable running from the base. It is not battery-powered or rechargeable, so it needs to be positioned where a power source is accessible or an outdoor extension lead can be run.

Can it be left outside in rain?

The IP44 rating protects against rain splashes from any direction, so the lamp can be used in light rain or on a covered terrace where it might get wet from wind-driven spray. It is not designed to be fully submerged or left in heavy downpours without shelter.

Is the LED replaceable?

The LED is integrated into the lamp and is not user-replaceable. Ideal Lux provides a 5-year warranty covering the LED and electrical components.

What height does it sit at when placed on a table?

The total height including the base is approximately 150-160mm, so the top of the sphere sits just above typical wine glass height when placed on a standard dining table.
