Description

The Zoom is an 85mm square recessed downlight with a white powder-coated cast aluminium body and an IP65 rating that seals out dust and water ingress. The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb (sold separately) up to 50W and sits in a fixed position rather than tiltable, directing light straight down from the ceiling plane.

Designed for bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms and outdoor soffits where moisture protection is required, the IP65 rating makes the Zoom suitable for shower zones, above kitchen sinks and under covered outdoor areas. The 45mm ceiling depth required for installation fits most modern plasterboard and suspended ceiling voids. The white finish sits flush with white or off-white ceilings without creating a visible boundary between the fitting and the ceiling surface.

The cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in humid environments better than stamped steel alternatives, and the fixed square bezel provides a crisp geometric aperture that suits contemporary interiors. The square aperture measures 85mm across, producing a slightly wider light spread than a 70mm round equivalent when paired with a wide-beam GU10 LED. The spring clips that secure the fitting into the ceiling cut-out allow the downlight to be removed for bulb changes without tools.

What does IP65 mean for bathroom use?

IP65 provides complete dust sealing and protection against water jets from any direction, making this downlight suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2 (above the bath or shower enclosure). It cannot be used in zone 0 (inside the shower cubicle itself).

What GU10 bulb is recommended?

The fitting accepts any GU10 bulb up to 50W. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for general bathroom or kitchen lighting, or a daylight equivalent (4000K) for task-focused areas like vanity mirrors.

What ceiling depth is needed?

The 45mm fitting depth requires a minimum ceiling void of 50mm to allow clearance for the bulb and the GU10 lampholder. Measure your ceiling void depth before ordering if you have a shallow plasterboard or suspended ceiling.

Is the light direction adjustable?
