Description

The Wise is a 26mm diameter honeycomb filter designed to reduce glare and control beam spread from recessed downlights and GU10 spotlights. The black aluminium honeycomb structure sits in front of the light source and narrows the effective beam angle, preventing light spill into areas where it's not wanted and reducing direct glare when viewed from the side.

Designed for galleries, retail displays, offices and residential rooms where precise lighting control matters, the filter clips or sits inside the front aperture of compatible recessed fittings. The 3mm depth means it adds minimal projection beyond the ceiling line once installed. The honeycomb cells absorb stray light rays traveling at wide angles and allow only light traveling close to perpendicular through the filter, creating a more focused beam on the lit surface below.

The black aluminium finish absorbs internal reflections inside the honeycomb cells, preventing the filter itself from becoming a visible bright element when the light is on. At 26mm diameter, the Wise fits standard GU10 spotlight apertures and some adjustable downlight trims from brands like JCC, Collingwood and Aurora, though compatibility should be confirmed by measuring the internal aperture diameter before ordering.

Frequently Asked

What downlights does the 26mm filter fit?

The 26mm diameter fits standard GU10 spotlight apertures and some adjustable downlight trims. Measure the internal diameter of your fitting's front aperture to confirm compatibility before ordering — the filter needs to sit snugly without falling through or jamming.

Does the honeycomb filter reduce light output?

Yes. The honeycomb structure blocks light rays traveling at wide angles, which narrows the beam and reduces the total light reaching surfaces outside the central beam. The reduction is typically 15-30% depending on the original beam angle of the bulb or downlight.

Can it be used with LED downlights?

Yes, as long as the LED downlight or GU10 bulb has a 26mm aperture at the front. The filter does not affect heat dissipation or bulb lifespan — it sits in front of the light source and does not contact the LED itself.

How is the filter installed?

Installation depends on the downlight design. Some fittings have a snap-in groove that holds the filter in place. Others require the filter to be placed loosely inside the bezel or trim before the bulb is inserted behind it. Refer to the product manual for fitting-specific guidance.
