Description
The Winchfield is a 703mm picture light in aged brass with four E14 bulb fittings housed inside a curved metal shade. The shade projects 318mm from the wall on adjustable twin arms that allow the light to be angled down onto artwork, mirrors or framed prints from above. Each bulb fitting takes a candle-style E14 bulb up to 40W (sold separately), providing concentrated downlight across a wide horizontal spread.
Designed for illuminating large canvases, wide mirrors, and gallery walls where multiple smaller framed pieces sit next to each other, the Winchfield suits traditional, mid-century and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The four-bulb configuration gives even light distribution across artwork between 900mm and 1500mm wide, avoiding the central hotspot that single-bulb picture lights create. The adjustable arms mean the light can be tilted closer to the wall or angled further out depending on the depth of the frame and the desired lighting effect.
The aged brass finish is a mid-tone warm brass with a subtle patina, sitting between polished brass and antique brass on the finish spectrum. The metal shade and arms are constructed from heavy-gauge steel with a durable powder-coated brass finish that resists tarnishing. The rectangular wall plate measures 127mm high and mounts via a standard backplate, concealing the cable run behind the wall. At 318mm projection when angled out, the Winchfield clears most deep frames and gilded mouldings without the shade touching the artwork surface.

Frequently Asked
What width of artwork does this suit?
The 703mm light spread works best with artwork between 900mm and 1500mm wide. Narrower pieces can be lit by a smaller picture light; wider pieces may need two Winchfield lights spaced along the top edge.
What bulbs are recommended?
The light takes four E14 (small Edison screw) candle-style bulbs up to 40W each. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for artwork illumination. Bulbs are sold separately.
Can the angle be adjusted after installation?
Yes. The twin arms are jointed, allowing the shade to be tilted up or down to change the angle of light on the artwork. This adjustment can be made by hand without tools once the wall plate is installed.
Does it need to be hard-wired?
Yes. The Winchfield is a mains-powered picture light that connects to a standard wall lighting circuit behind the backplate. Installation requires a qualified electrician to run the cable and connect the fitting safely.
