Description
The Viritis is a 600mm-tall outdoor LED bollard light built around a powder-coated aluminium frame in grey, housing an integrated 12W 4000K LED. The rectangular column profile measures 85mm square at the base and tapers slightly toward the top, where a transparent glass lens directs light downward onto pathways, driveways and garden borders. The LED is non-replaceable and rated for approximately 30,000 hours of use.
Designed for pathway marking, driveway edging and garden perimeter lighting, the Viritis carries an IP54 rating that protects the internal components from dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for year-round installation in exposed UK outdoor conditions, including coastal areas where salt spray is a consideration. The grey finish provides a neutral tone that blends with stone, gravel and contemporary paving materials without the high-contrast appearance of black or white bollards.
The 4000K colour temperature produces a cool white light closer to daylight than the warm yellows of 2700K-3000K LEDs, which suits functional outdoor lighting where colour rendering and visibility matter more than creating a warm ambience. The downward-directed beam minimises upward light spill and glare, reducing light pollution in residential settings. The 12W output is sufficient to mark a pathway edge at 2-3m spacing intervals without overlighting the area.
The bollard is supplied with a 600mm cable for connection to an outdoor electrical circuit, requiring installation by a qualified electrician. The powder-coated aluminium construction resists corrosion better than painted steel, and the grey finish hides surface dust and weathering more effectively than gloss white or polished metal finishes. Ideal Lux backs the Viritis with a 5-year warranty covering manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked
What is the IP54 rating suitable for?
IP54 protects the internal components from dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. This makes the bollard suitable for pathways, driveways and gardens where it may be exposed to rain, garden hose spray and typical UK weather, but not suitable for full submersion or high-pressure jet washing.
Can the LED be replaced?
No. The 12W LED is integrated into the bollard and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 30,000 hours, which equates to around 10 years of use at 8 hours per night.
What colour is the light output?
The 4000K colour temperature produces a cool white light closer to daylight than the warm yellows of traditional outdoor lighting. This suits functional applications where visibility and colour rendering matter, such as driveway edges and pathway marking.
How is it installed?
The bollard is supplied with a 600mm cable for connection to an outdoor electrical circuit. Installation requires a qualified electrician to connect the cable to mains power, and typically involves fixing the bollard to a concrete base or paving stone using screws or bolts (fixings not included).
