Description
The Victoria is a 260mm outdoor wall light built around a solid brass lantern box with a pagoda-style roof and clear glass panels, finished in aged brass with a protective lacquer coating. A single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) sits inside the glazed box, casting light through the clear glass and downwards through the open bottom of the lantern. The IP44 rating protects the fitting against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for exposed locations including porches, front doors, courtyard walls and covered patios.
Designed for period and traditional properties, the Victoria references pre-Georgian lantern designs with a tapered roof, rectangular box frame and visible corner posts. The aged brass finish darkens the metal to a warm antique tone that pairs with red brick, painted render, timber cladding and natural stone. The 100mm projection from the wall provides enough clearance for the lantern box while keeping the overall profile compact. The light casts downwards and outwards, making it suitable for lighting doorways, steps and paths without upward light spill.
The solid brass construction gives the fitting a 1.2kg weight and the lacquered finish slows natural tarnishing, though the aged brass will continue to develop patina over time depending on exposure to weather and coastal salt. The clear glass panels allow the bulb to be visible when lit, so pairing the fitting with a traditional filament-style LED or carbon-filament bulb reinforces the period aesthetic. The fitting comes with Elstead's lifetime guarantee.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Victoria take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the period aesthetic and aged brass finish.
Is it suitable for exposed coastal locations?
The IP44 rating protects against water splashes and dust, and the lacquered brass finish slows corrosion. However, in exposed coastal environments with salt spray, the aged brass will develop patina faster and may require occasional cleaning with a brass polish or wax to maintain the finish.
Does the glass need to be removed to change the bulb?
Yes. The lower section of the lantern box typically unscrews or hinges open to allow bulb access. The clear glass panels remain in place during bulb changes.
Will the aged brass finish change over time?
Yes. The aged brass is lacquered to slow natural tarnishing, but depending on weather exposure and proximity to the coast, the finish will continue to develop patina and darken over time. This is a characteristic of solid brass fittings rather than a defect.
