Description

The Verdant Small is a 280mm geometric pendant light built from brass-finished metal bars arranged in an open polyhedron frame, with a single E27 bulb fitting at the centre. The frame is constructed from triangulated struts that meet at sharp vertices, creating an architectural cage structure that leaves the bulb visible from most angles. The brass finish has a warm, slightly burnished tone that softens reflections compared to polished brass.

Designed for kitchens, hallways, entrance halls and smaller dining areas where a larger pendant would dominate, the 280mm diameter keeps the frame compact while the geometric structure still provides visual presence. The open frame allows light to cast in all directions, with the struts throwing shadow lines onto walls and ceilings when lit. The 370mm total height suits standard 2.4m ceiling heights when hung 700-900mm above a worktop or console table.

The pendant is supplied with a chain and canopy that fit standard UK ceiling roses. The E27 socket accepts any standard LED, halogen or decorative filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), and the fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and dimmable bulb. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only. The frame is constructed from hollow metal tube rather than solid bar, keeping the weight low enough for typical plasterboard ceiling fixings.

The E27 socket takes any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W. For best results with the open-frame design, use a decorative LED filament bulb in warm white (2700K) so the bulb itself becomes part of the visual composition. Globe or squirrel-cage filament bulbs work particularly well.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the fitting itself supports dimming. You will need a dimmable E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. Check that your dimmer is rated for LED if using an LED bulb.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means it is only suitable for dry indoor locations. For bathrooms you need a minimum IP44 rating in zones 1 and 2.

How is the height adjusted?

The pendant is supplied with a chain that can be shortened during installation by removing links before wiring. The total drop from ceiling to the base of the frame is 370mm, but this can be reduced by shortening the chain to suit your ceiling height and installation position.
