Venetian Rain 2 Light Medium Outdoor Wall Lantern - Brushed Bronze

The Venetian Rain is a 641mm outdoor wall lantern with two E14 bulb fittings housed inside a clear rain-textured glass enclosure, mounted on a brushed bronze frame with Renaissance-style scrollwork. The glass panels are moulded with a vertical ripple texture that mimics falling rain, scattering light from the two bulbs to create a diffused glow rather than harsh points of light.

Designed for covered porches, front entrances and garden walls on period, traditional and Mediterranean-style properties, the lantern carries an IP44 rating that protects against rain and moisture ingress from any direction. The 267mm projection from the wall and 184mm width give the fitting a substantial presence suitable for doorways 900mm wide or larger, while the brushed bronze finish pairs with both warm-toned masonry and painted render.

The scrollwork detail on the backplate and finial draws from Venetian ironwork traditions, with curved brackets at the top and bottom anchoring the lantern to the wall. The rain glass is held in a beaded frame that runs around the top and bottom edges of the glass panels, matching the decorative detail on the backplate. The brushed finish on the bronze softens the metal tone and ages more gracefully outdoors than polished finishes, which show weathering more visibly.

What bulbs does it take?

The lantern takes two E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for traditional outdoor entrance lighting.

Can it be used in fully exposed positions?

The IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, recessed entrances and positions under eaves. For fully exposed walls without overhead cover, a higher IP rating (IP65 or above) would provide better long-term protection against driving rain.

How is the rain glass effect created?

The glass panels are moulded with a vertical ripple texture during manufacture, creating the visual effect of water running down the surface. This texture scatters the light from the bulbs, softening the output and reducing glare while maintaining the warm glow of the bulbs inside.

What wall surface does it need?

The lantern mounts to solid masonry, brick, block or timber-framed walls using fixings appropriate to the substrate. The backplate measures 184mm wide by approximately 350mm tall and requires a flat, vertical surface for secure fixing.
