Description
The Turin is a half-lantern wall light in white powder-coated die-cast aluminium with clear glass panels and a single E27 bulb fitting. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, making the fitting suitable for external walls, porches and covered entrances exposed to British weather. The half-lantern profile sits flat against the wall with a 120mm projection from the surface.
Designed for residential porches, front doors, garage side entrances and garden paths where overhead light is not practical, the Turin provides downward and forward light distribution without needing ceiling access. The 375mm height suits standard door frame proportions without overwhelming narrower entrances, while the 230mm width keeps the fitting within typical porch and alcove widths. The E27 fitting accepts LED, filament or halogen bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness.
The white powder-coated finish is applied over die-cast aluminium, which resists corrosion better than pressed steel alternatives in damp coastal and urban environments. Norlys includes no coastal exclusion on the 5-year warranty, confirming the finish holds up in salt air. The clear glass panels allow full light output from the bulb without tinting or diffusing, which is useful where the lantern provides the primary light source for a doorway or path. The classic lantern shape pairs with both Georgian brick-and-sash facades and modern rendered walls.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP54 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP54 means the lantern is protected against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. It can be used on external walls exposed to rain, but should not be installed where it will be directly hosed or submerged. The rating makes it suitable for British weather on porches, under eaves and on sheltered external walls.
What bulb should I use?
The E27 fitting accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K provides good visibility without harsh glare. Bulbs are sold separately.
Can this be used in coastal locations?
Yes. Norlys includes no coastal exclusion on the 5-year warranty, confirming the powder-coated die-cast aluminium finish resists salt air corrosion. Regular rinsing with fresh water during cleaning helps maintain the finish in seaside locations.
How is it mounted?
The half-lantern mounts directly to an external wall using the rear plate. Standard UK outdoor wiring with IP-rated junction boxes and cable glands is required. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician to maintain IP54 protection and comply with Part P Building Regulations.
