Description

Our Dark Oak finish brings a warm, grounding depth to this square coffee table, and it is the sort of tone we reach for when a room needs a little more weight without turning heavy. The deeper grain reads beautifully against pale walls and lighter flooring, yet it settles just as comfortably into a cosier, layered space. We love how the softly rounded corners take the edge off the strong square footprint, giving you a piece that feels solid and considered rather than boxy. At the tall height, it sits at a comfortable level for sofas and armchairs, making it easy to reach a cup or a book while you are settled in.

The design works on two levels, quite literally. The upper surface gives you a generous 100 by 100cm square to work with, ideal for trays, magazines, candles or a pot of tea, while the woven venetian cane lower tier adds texture and a place to tuck away everyday clutter. We find this open weave keeps the table feeling light on its feet despite its size, so it never dominates the floor. The four solid oak legs carry the whole thing cleanly, and at 22.7kg it feels reassuringly steady in use. Assembly is quick too, taking around fifteen minutes with the legs fixed in place using threaded rods.

This table is made from solid oak, oak veneered MDF and venetian cane, a mix we chose so it stays sturdy where it counts and lighter where it helps. The plate combines veneered surfaces with solid oak lipping and a clear coat wood finish, which keeps the natural character of the grain on show while giving it a little everyday protection. To care for it, we suggest wiping with a soft, dry cloth and dealing with spills promptly. Style it simply and let the warm Dark Oak do the talking.
