Description
At 77.5cm tall with a 47cm seat diameter, our Socialite Bar Stool sits at a height we chose for kitchen islands and raised counters, where a perch that clears the worktop makes all the difference. The round seat gives room to settle without feeling perched on the edge, and the compact footprint means we can line up two or three along a run without them crowding one another. Weighing just 5.1kg, it lifts easily when you need to sweep beneath it or shift it aside.
The Socialite is made from solid oak in a Dark Oak finish, a deep warm brown that shows the grain rather than hiding it. The round seat rests on four solid tapered legs that splay slightly for stability, and a brass footrest ring wraps the base at exactly the point your feet want to rest. That ring is aluminium with a brass anodized finish, so it keeps its warm tone without the tarnish you get from raw brass. There is no back and no upholstery here; we kept the form open and honest, letting the timber and the metal do the talking. It suits a busy kitchen or a home bar where wiping down and moving on matters more than cushions.
Assembly takes around five minutes, which means the legs and footrest ring fix to the seat quickly and you are sitting on it before the kettle has boiled. We put the Socialite through EN 16139 testing at level L1, the standard we hold our seating to for stability, strength and durability in everyday use, so it stands up to being pulled out, sat on and pushed back day after day. It is one bar stool we are happy to send out knowing it will earn its place.
