Description

The Tenax Pro is a 320mm diameter anti-vandal bulkhead casing constructed from UV-stabilised polycarbonate with an eyelid diffuser that shields the light source from direct view. Rated IP66 for weatherproofing and IK10 for impact resistance, the casing accepts separately-sold Tenax LED gear trays in 10W, 15W or 20W configurations. The eyelid design directs light downward whilst concealing the LED gear tray behind a grey polycarbonate shield.

Designed for commercial, industrial and high-traffic outdoor environments where vandalism and accidental impact are concerns, the Tenax Pro suits car parks, underpasses, external building perimeters, loading bays and stairwells. The IP66 rating protects against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets, making the fitting suitable for outdoor wall and soffit mounting in all weather conditions. Multiple 20mm conduit entries allow cable routing from different directions, and the fitting is compatible with standard BESA boxes for straightforward retrofit into existing commercial installations.

The polycarbonate body and diffuser are UV-stabilised to prevent yellowing and brittleness under prolonged sunlight exposure, maintaining the grey finish over the rated lifespan. Stainless steel tamper-proof screws secure the diffuser to the casing, requiring a specialist tool for removal. The 82.5mm projection from the wall gives clearance for the LED gear tray inside whilst keeping the overall profile compact for corridor and canopy installations. The Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection to the casing itself.

Frequently Asked

Does this include the LED gear tray?

No. The Tenax Pro is the casing only. The LED gear tray must be purchased separately in 10W, 15W or 20W versions depending on the light output required. The casing accepts all three wattage options.

What does the eyelid design do?

The eyelid is a polycarbonate shield that covers the upper half of the diffuser, directing light downward and preventing direct view of the light source from above. This reduces glare and conceals the internal LED gear tray from sight.

Can this be used in coastal or marine environments?

The polycarbonate construction resists corrosion better than metal bulkheads, and the IP66 rating protects against salt spray and moisture ingress. However, stainless steel fixings should be inspected periodically in aggressive coastal environments to confirm they remain secure.

What tool is needed to remove the diffuser?

The tamper-proof screws require a specialist security bit (typically a hex-pin or similar design) to prevent casual removal. The exact bit type is detailed in the installation instructions supplied with the casing.
