Description

The Taiko is a 2-light wall fitting built around an abstract cluster of intersecting metal rods finished in olde bronze, arranged above and below a 250mm cream linen drum shade. Two E14 candle bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the shade, which diffuses light both through the fabric and around the top and bottom edges where the bronze frame creates shadow patterns on the wall.

Designed for hallways, staircases, living rooms and bedrooms where wall space allows a 602mm vertical fitting, the Taiko works as a focal point in contemporary, industrial and eclectic interiors. The 125mm projection from the wall suits alcoves, feature walls and chimney breasts where a shallow-profile fitting would be lost. The olde bronze finish is a dark, slightly aged tone that sits between graphite black and antique brass, pairing well with both neutral and richly-coloured walls.

The metal cluster is hand-welded and individually finished, so the exact arrangement and tone of the bronze rods varies slightly between pieces. The cream linen shade is a natural fibre fabric with visible weave texture, giving a softer finish than synthetic alternatives. At maximum load the fitting draws 80W across both E14 sockets, but most users pair it with two 4-6W LED candle bulbs for ambient rather than task lighting. UK-made by Elstead Lighting.
