Description

The Sparx is a steel mounting plate designed to fix track lighting systems to ceiling or wall surfaces. At 100mm projection and 45mm length, the plate provides a stable anchor point for track rails, transferring the combined weight of the track, connectors and attached spotlights directly to the building structure. The plate is steel throughout, finished in a neutral tone that sits behind the track once installed.

Track lighting mounting plates are used where a track run needs to be supported between end-feed points, or where the track crosses a ceiling joist gap and needs additional structural support. The Sparx mounts using screws into ceiling joists, battens or solid masonry, with the track then clipping or screwing onto the plate's top surface. This works in retail, office, gallery and residential installations where track lighting is run across spans longer than 1.5m, or where the track supports multiple heavy spotlight heads.

The 100mm projection allows the plate to bridge between a ceiling surface and the underside of the track, accommodating recessed or surface-mounted track configurations. The steel construction handles the load of typical 3-circuit track systems with multiple GU10 or E27 spotlight fittings attached. Installation requires appropriate fixings for the substrate type — wood screws for timber joists, masonry anchors for concrete or brick.

Frequently Asked

What track systems does this plate work with?

The Sparx is part of the Ideal Lux track lighting range and is designed to support Ideal Lux track rails. Compatibility with other manufacturers' track systems depends on the track profile and mounting method — contact us to confirm if you are pairing it with a non-Ideal Lux track.

How many mounting plates are needed per metre of track?

This depends on the track weight, the number of spotlights attached, and the substrate. For typical residential installations with 3-4 spotlights per metre, one mounting plate every 1-1.5m is usual. Heavier commercial configurations with multiple spotlights may need plates every 0.8-1m.

What fixings are included?

The plate is supplied without fixings. You will need screws or anchors appropriate to your ceiling or wall type — wood screws for timber joists, masonry anchors for concrete or brick, plasterboard fixings for hollow ceilings if mounting into a stud.
