Description

The Spark is a 20W constant current LED driver delivering 500mA output with 1-10V dimming compatibility. Housed in a compact 108mm x 52mm white plastic enclosure, the driver converts mains voltage to a stable constant current supply for LED light fittings, preventing flicker and ensuring consistent light output across the connected load.

Designed for recessed downlights, linear LED strips, decorative pendant fittings and cabinet lighting where space behind the fitting is limited, the Spark suits installations requiring dimming control via a separate 1-10V dimmer switch. The 2150mm cable length allows the driver to be positioned remotely from the LED fitting itself, useful when the fitting cavity cannot accommodate the driver body or when multiple fittings share a single driver in a grouped installation.

The IP20 rating limits the driver to dry indoor locations — typical applications include living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens (non-zone areas), offices and retail spaces. The plastic housing is lightweight and insulating, reducing installation weight compared to metal-cased alternatives and eliminating the need for additional earthing of the driver body. The 500mA constant current output pairs with LED modules and COB chips rated for 500mA operation, with the 20W maximum load supporting LED fittings drawing up to 20W total.

Frequently Asked

What is 1-10V dimming?

1-10V is a low-voltage dimming protocol where a separate 1-10V dimmer controller sends a signal to the driver to adjust brightness. The mains supply remains constant and the dimmer controls the driver via two additional low-voltage wires. The system requires a 1-10V compatible dimmer switch — standard trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmers will not work with this driver.

Can multiple LED fittings share one driver?

Yes, as long as the combined wattage of all connected fittings does not exceed 20W and all fittings are rated for 500mA constant current operation. The driver outputs a fixed 500mA current regardless of the number of fittings connected, so voltage drop and total wattage must be calculated to ensure safe operation.

Where can this driver be installed?

The IP20 rating restricts the driver to dry indoor locations away from direct water contact. It is not suitable for bathrooms (any zone), outdoor locations, or damp environments. Typical installations include above ceilings, inside false walls, within furniture or in luminaire housings that protect the driver from moisture.

What is constant current vs constant voltage?

Constant current drivers supply a fixed current (in this case 500mA) and vary the voltage to match the connected load. Constant voltage drivers supply a fixed voltage (e.g. 12V or 24V) and allow the current to vary. LEDs are current-driven devices, so constant current drivers provide more stable performance and longer LED lifespan when matched correctly to the LED module.

Free worldwide delivery

Free worldwide delivery on all orders over £99. International orders for third-party brand products may be subject to an additional courier surcharge based on volumetric weight, particularly on larger lighting fixtures — if a surcharge applies, our team will email you with the amount before dispatch and you can proceed or cancel for a full refund. See full delivery terms.

Returns

30-day returns window from delivery. As all our products are electrical or lighting goods, returned items must be inspected and recertified by a qualified electrician before resale — the cost of this inspection (25–40% of the item value) is deducted from your refund. Customers pay return shipping. Made-to-order, special-order and clearance items cannot be returned. See full returns policy.
