Description

The Solis is a 100mm diameter recessed LED spotlight with an integrated 12W LED light source rated at 4000K neutral white, housed in a die-cast aluminium body finished in matt white. The spotlight head rotates 360° on its mounting ring and tilts 90° from flush to fully extended, allowing the beam to be directed across walls, surfaces or architectural features.

Designed for installation in plasterboard or panel ceilings, the Solis suits kitchens, bathrooms (IP20 rated — dry zones only), hallways, offices and retail environments where directional ceiling lighting is needed. The 4000K colour temperature produces a crisp neutral white that sits between warm and cool, matching natural daylight and improving visibility for task-focused areas. The matt white finish allows the fitting to sit flush with white or near-white ceilings without creating a visual contrast.

The die-cast aluminium construction dissipates heat from the integrated LED and provides structural rigidity for the rotating and tilting mechanism. The 100mm aperture keeps ceiling cuts to a minimum, making the Solis suitable for low-profile ceilings where larger recessed fittings would intrude too far into the void above. Once installed, the spotlight head can be repositioned without accessing the ceiling void — the full 360° rotation and 90° tilt range is adjusted from below.

No. The integrated 12W LED is not compatible with dimmer switches. For dimmable recessed spotlights, please contact us for alternative options from the Ideal Lux range.

What ceiling void depth is required?

The Solis requires a minimum ceiling void depth of approximately 100-120mm to accommodate the recessed body and driver. Check the installation instructions for exact clearance requirements before cutting the ceiling aperture.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the Solis is suitable for dry zones in bathrooms only — areas outside zones 0, 1 and 2 where direct water contact and moisture ingress are minimal. For wet zones or shower enclosures, an IP44 or IP65 rated fitting is required.

How is the beam direction adjusted?

The spotlight head rotates 360° on its mounting ring and tilts up to 90° from flush. Both adjustments are made by hand from below the ceiling once the fitting is installed, without needing to access the void above.
