Description

The Solarae is a 25cm clear glass sphere pendant from Ideal Lux, suspended on a polished chrome rod with a single G4 bulb fitting at the centre. The blown glass globe is clear rather than frosted, making the bulb visible when lit and casting direct light downwards with ambient scatter through the glass walls.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars where a clear sightline is needed underneath the pendant, the Solarae hangs on a 2000mm cable adjustable during installation. The 25cm globe diameter suits tables 1200-1800mm in length when used as a single pendant, or can be paired in multiples across longer islands. The polished chrome rod and canopy reflect surrounding light and pair with modern, minimalist and Scandi interiors where clean geometry dominates.

The 490mm total height from canopy to bottom of globe means the pendant sits approximately 500-700mm above a worktop or table surface once the cable is shortened to typical installation height. The G4 bulb fitting accepts a small capsule bulb (sold separately), typically in the 20-35W halogen range or a 2-4W LED equivalent. The clear glass shows the bulb, so a warm-white LED capsule with 2700K or 3000K colour temperature is recommended to avoid harsh white light.

What bulb does it take?

The Solarae uses a G4 bi-pin capsule bulb, sold separately. G4 bulbs are small capsules commonly available in 20W halogen or 2-4W LED. A warm-white LED at 2700K or 3000K is recommended because the clear glass makes the bulb visible when lit.

Is it dimmable?

The Solarae itself is not dimmable. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific G4 LED bulb you choose — some G4 LEDs are dimmable, most are not. Check the bulb specification before pairing with a dimmer switch.

What size table does it suit?

How is the glass cleaned?
