Description
The Solarae is a 15cm diameter clear glass sphere pendant suspended on a chrome stem, housing a single G4 bulb fitting inside the globe. The stem runs vertically through the centre of the sphere, with a polished chrome canopy at the top and a matching chrome collar at the bulb holder. The blown glass is left completely clear, allowing the G4 capsule bulb to be visible when lit.
Designed for cluster installations over kitchen islands, breakfast bars and dining tables, the Solarae works best in groups of three, five or seven pendants at staggered heights. The 2000mm cable length allows each pendant to be set at different drop points, creating visual interest without needing multiple ceiling roses. The compact 15cm diameter also suits hallways, corridor runs and reading nooks where a larger pendant would dominate the space. The G4 fitting accepts low-voltage halogen or LED capsule bulbs, which sit inside the glass sphere and cast light outwards in all directions.
The chrome finish on the stem and canopy reflects light from neighbouring pendants in a cluster arrangement, amplifying brightness when multiple Solarae units are grouped together. The clear glass is smooth-blown with a slight optical distortion that softens the appearance of the bulb inside without obscuring it. The IP20 rating limits the pendant to dry indoor locations only — not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor canopies or unheated spaces with condensation risk.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Solarae takes a single G4 capsule bulb, which is a bi-pin low-voltage fitting. G4 bulbs are sold separately and are available in both halogen and LED versions. Most users pair this with a 2W-3W LED G4 capsule at 2700K-3000K for warm task lighting.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. The IP20 rating means it is suitable for dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher, so the Solarae cannot be used in zones 1, 2 or 3 of a bathroom installation.
Is the Solarae dimmable?
The specification lists it as non-dimmable. If dimming is required, check whether the specific G4 bulb you choose supports dimming, and confirm compatibility with the fixture before pairing with a dimmer switch.
How many should I use in a cluster?
Clusters of three, five or seven work well over kitchen islands and dining tables. Odd numbers give better visual balance. The 2000mm cable allows each pendant to be set at different heights — typically 300-500mm variation between the lowest and highest unit in the group.
