Share Round Plaster-In Fixed Recessed Downlight - Black

The Maytoni Share is a 140mm round plaster-in recessed downlight with a matt black finish and a fixed beam position. The fitting sits flush with the ceiling once plastered over, leaving only the black downlight aperture and reflector visible. A GU10 bulb holder inside accepts bulbs up to 20W (sold separately), and the black internal reflector focuses the light into a directional beam rather than dispersing it as ambient light.

Designed for new builds, renovations and ceiling refits where cabling and false ceiling construction allow recessed fittings, the Share requires a minimum ceiling void depth of approximately 80mm for the housing and thermal clearance. The plaster-in frame accepts standard plasterboard finishing, allowing decorators to skim or tape over the edges so the downlight appears as a deliberate architectural cut-out rather than a surface-mounted fixture. The fixed beam suits task lighting over kitchen worktops, hallway accents, bathroom mirrors (where ceiling void depth permits), or focused lighting for artwork and furniture.

The black finish on both the visible trim and the internal reflector provides tonal contrast against white or light-coloured ceilings and helps control light spill by absorbing rather than reflecting stray light. The aluminium and plastic construction keeps the fitting lightweight for ceiling mounting while the IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor areas. The GU10 fitting accepts both halogen and LED GU10 bulbs, giving flexibility to choose between warm white (2700K-3000K), neutral white (4000K) or cool white (5000K-6500K) depending on room function.

What ceiling void depth is required?

The fitting has a height of 5.5cm, but installation requires approximately 80mm minimum ceiling void depth to accommodate the housing, wiring connections and thermal clearance around the bulb. Check void depth before ordering if installing into an existing ceiling.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 20W maximum (halogen or LED), sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for general lighting or 4000K for task lighting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor areas only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones where moisture or water contact is possible. For bathrooms, look for downlights rated IP44 or higher.

Is the beam angle adjustable?

No. The fixed design means the beam direction cannot be tilted or rotated once installed. The light projects straight down from the ceiling. If directional adjustment is needed, consider an adjustable recessed spotlight instead.
