Description

The Sally is a 100mm square recessed downlight with a trimless installation that sits flush within plasterboard or panel ceilings, leaving only the aperture and black internal baffle visible once the ceiling is plastered and painted. An integrated 11W COB LED produces warm 3000K light through a central reflector recessed within a matt black housing cast from die-cast aluminium.

Designed for residential and commercial interiors where minimal visual disruption matters, the Sally suits hallways, kitchens, bathrooms (dry zones only — IP40 rating), living rooms and retail or hospitality environments requiring directional accent or general lighting. The trimless design means there is no visible bezel or frame projecting below the ceiling line once installed, allowing the ceiling plane to read as continuous. Installation requires a 100mm square ceiling cut-out and plastering around the fixture once fitted.

The die-cast aluminium body provides structural rigidity and efficient heat dissipation for the integrated LED, which is rated for 30,000 hours. The matt black finish inside the aperture absorbs stray light and defines the beam edge cleanly. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm white output that pairs with incandescent and halogen retrofits in mixed installations without creating noticeable colour shift.

Can this be installed in a bathroom?

The IP40 rating protects against solid objects larger than 1mm but offers no water ingress protection. It can be used in dry zones of bathrooms (outside the zones defined in BS 7671) but not in areas subject to direct water spray or high humidity.

No. The LED is integrated into the housing and is not user-replaceable. The unit is rated for 30,000 hours of operation, equivalent to approximately 10-15 years of typical domestic use.

What ceiling depth is required for installation?

The 100mm projection depth shown in the specification refers to the fixture's recess into the ceiling void. A minimum void depth of 110mm is recommended to allow clearance for the driver and heat dissipation above the ceiling line.

Can it be dimmed?

No. The integrated driver does not support dimming. If dimmable control is required, consider alternative models in the Ideal Lux range with compatible drivers.
