Description

The Sally is a 120mm round recessed LED downlight with a 20W integrated COB (Chip on Board) LED at 3000K warm white, set within a black die-cast aluminium trim ring. The fixed-beam fitting recesses into plasterboard or panel ceilings with the black ring sitting flush to the ceiling surface, and the silvery reflector cone angled to direct light straight down or at a slight spread depending on the specific reflector geometry.

Designed for residential living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and commercial hospitality spaces where recessed ceiling lighting is preferred over surface-mounted fittings, the Sally provides general ambient downlighting at 20W draw. The 3000K colour temperature sits in the warm white spectrum, close to traditional halogen output. The IP40 rating protects against solid objects above 1mm but does not carry moisture resistance, so the fitting is for dry interior locations only — not bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor soffits.

The die-cast aluminium construction gives the trim ring structural rigidity and heat dissipation for the integrated LED, with the black powder-coated finish providing a visible dark accent ring against white or light-coloured ceilings. Installation requires a ceiling void depth of at least 120mm to accommodate the housing, driver and heatsink assembly. The LED is non-dimmable and non-replaceable — the entire fitting is replaced at end-of-life rather than swapping a bulb module.

Is the Sally dimmable?

No. The integrated 20W LED is non-dimmable. Connecting this fitting to a dimmer circuit may cause flickering, low-level hum, or damage to the driver.

What ceiling void depth is required?

The fitting height is 120mm, which includes the driver housing, heatsink and LED assembly. A ceiling void depth of at least 120mm is needed for safe installation, plus clearance for the mains cable connection above the fitting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP40 rating protects against dust ingress but does not carry moisture resistance. For bathroom zones a fitting with IP44 or higher is required. The Sally is for dry interior locations only.

Can the LED be replaced when it fails?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and non-replaceable. At end-of-life the entire fitting is replaced rather than swapping a lamp module. Ideal Lux provides a 5-year warranty on the fitting and driver.
