Description

The Sally is an 85mm recessed LED downlight with a fixed black trim ring and an integrated 11W COB LED delivering cool white 4000K light. The die-cast aluminium housing and trim sit flush with plasterboard or panel ceilings, with the black finish providing a defined aperture against white or neutral ceiling surfaces.

Designed for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and commercial office ceilings where cool white task lighting is needed, the Sally delivers consistent downward illumination without the maintenance of replaceable bulbs. The 4000K colour temperature provides clarity for food preparation, reading and detailed work. The 85mm cut-out diameter fits standard UK ceiling joists and works in layouts with 1m-1.5m spacing between multiple fittings.

The black powder-coated trim ring adds a modern accent against white ceilings and conceals the edge of the ceiling cut-out once installed. The IP40 rating provides protection against dust ingress but not moisture, so the Sally is suitable for general indoor use but not zones 1 or 2 in bathrooms. The fixed orientation directs light straight down with no tilt adjustment.

Is the Sally dimmable?

No. The integrated 11W LED driver does not support dimmer switches. If dimming is needed, consider Ideal Lux's alternative recessed downlight ranges with dimmable drivers.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP40 rating allows use in bathrooms outside zones 1 and 2 (typically 600mm or more from the bath/shower). For installation directly above a bath or in a shower enclosure, a higher IP rating (IP65 or IP67) is required.

What is the cut-out size required?

The 85mm diameter shown in the specification is the visible trim diameter. Ideal Lux recessed downlights typically require a cut-out 5-10mm smaller than the trim diameter — refer to the installation instructions or contact us to confirm the exact cut-out dimension before cutting the ceiling.

What depth is needed above the ceiling?

COB LED recessed downlights typically need 80-100mm of void depth above the ceiling for the driver and heat dissipation. Confirm available ceiling void depth before ordering to ensure the fitting can be installed.
