Roll Outdoor Surface Downlight GU10 - Black IP54

The Roll is a 6.5cm diameter cylindrical surface downlight with a matt black aluminium body, a GU10 lampholder and an IP54 protection rating. The fitting mounts directly to the ceiling without needing a recess, making it suitable for installation onto solid surfaces, timber soffits or masonry where cutting into the structure is not practical. A clear glass lens sits flush with the cylinder's base, directing light straight down onto the area below.

Designed for covered outdoor areas such as front door canopies, porch ceilings, pergolas and veranda soffits, the Roll provides accent lighting or safe passage lighting where the fitting itself is visible from below. The IP54 rating protects against water spray from any direction and prevents dust ingress, but the fitting should be installed under a roof or shelter rather than fully exposed to driving rain. The compact 10cm height and low-profile mounting allow the downlight to sit close to the ceiling in areas with limited headroom.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion in outdoor conditions, and the matt black powder-coat finish hides fingerprints and surface marks better than polished or glossy coatings. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose the beam angle, colour temperature and output that suits the location. A narrow 38° beam GU10 creates focused task lighting for doorways, while a wider 60° flood beam distributes light across a larger porch area.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP54 rating protects against water spray and dust, but the fitting is designed for covered outdoor areas such as porch ceilings, canopies, pergolas and veranda soffits. For locations exposed to driving rain or full weather, a higher IP65 or IP67 rated fitting is recommended.

What bulb does it take?

The Roll takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a GU10 LED between 5-7W, choosing either a 38° narrow beam for focused downlight or a 60° flood beam for wider coverage.

Does it require a recessed ceiling void?

No. The Roll is a surface-mounted downlight that fixes directly to the ceiling surface without needing to cut a recess. This makes it suitable for solid ceilings, timber soffits or locations where creating a void is impractical.

What mounting fixings are included?

Mounting fixings vary by installation surface. The downlight includes a base plate with fixing holes. Use appropriate wall plugs and screws for masonry, or wood screws for timber soffits. The manual provides full installation guidance.
