Description

The Riley is a 370mm rectangular wall light with an ivory faux silk shade mounted on an aged brass backplate. The shade measures 230mm high and projects 128mm from the wall, housing a single E27 bulb fitting rated for up to 60W. The fabric diffuses the light evenly across the front and sides of the shade, providing ambient rather than directional light.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways where soft wall-mounted lighting is needed without overhead fittings, the Riley works as a pair flanking a fireplace or sofa, or as singles along a corridor. The rectangular form gives more vertical presence than a drum shade while maintaining a similar projection depth, making it suited to walls where space beside doorways or furniture is limited. The E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs, allowing control over colour temperature and brightness.

The aged brass backplate carries a warmer, slightly darker tone than polished brass, with a subtle patina finish that reduces reflections and pairs well with oak, walnut and other warm-toned wood finishes. The ivory faux silk shade shows a fine linear texture under daylight and glows softly when lit, providing contrast against the brass without creating stark tonal jumps. What bulb does the Riley take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair the Riley with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or living room lighting.

Can the shade be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The faux silk shade lifts away from the metal frame for dusting or cleaning. Use a soft brush or vacuum attachment on low power to remove surface dust, or spot-clean gently with a barely-damp cloth if needed.

How far does it project from the wall?

The total projection is 128mm from the wall surface to the front edge of the shade. This depth allows the light to be mounted beside doorways, above side tables and next to furniture without protruding excessively into the room.

Is the aged brass finish lacquered?

Aged brass finishes are typically sealed to preserve the patina and prevent further tarnishing. The finish can be wiped clean with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that may strip the aged effect.
