Description

The Reif is a 68mm diameter recessed downlight with a matt black aluminium housing and a fixed-position GU10 fitting rated at 12W maximum. The shallow 54mm cut-out depth makes it suitable for low ceiling voids where full-depth downlights cannot fit, and the IP20 rating confines it to dry interior spaces away from bathrooms and wet rooms.

Designed for ambient and task lighting in living rooms, hallways, retail spaces and offices, the Reif sits flush with the ceiling once installed. The matt black finish recedes visually against dark ceilings or provides a defined contrast against white, creating a series of clean circular apertures when multiple fittings are installed in a grid or linear run. The fixed bezel means the light direction cannot be adjusted after fitting, so placement needs to account for fixed downward projection.

The aluminium construction keeps each fitting light at approximately 150g, reducing load on ceiling boards and simplifying installation in plasterboard or suspended ceilings. The matt black powder-coat finish resists fingerprints during handling and avoids the reflective glare of polished metals under direct viewing angles. The GU10 base accepts standard twist-lock LED, halogen or CFL bulbs up to 12W (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and beam angle depending on the chosen lamp.

The Reif takes a GU10 twist-lock bulb up to 12W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K for residential ambient lighting, or 4000K-5000K for commercial task lighting.

Can the light direction be adjusted?

No. The Reif is a fixed-position downlight with no tilt or rotation mechanism. The light projects directly downward from the ceiling position where it is installed.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The 54mm height requires a minimum 60mm ceiling void to allow clearance for the fitting body and the bulb once installed. Measure your ceiling void before ordering if working with shallow ceilings or low-profile suspended ceiling systems.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the Reif is not splash-proof or moisture-resistant and must only be used in dry interior spaces. Bathrooms and wet rooms require IP44 or IP65 rated fittings.
