Description

The Ray is a 180mm single pendant light with an integrated 5W 3000K LED housed inside a clear acrylic shade with vertical striping. The shade sits beneath a powder-coated white metal canopy on a transparent PVC cable, 1550mm long and adjustable on installation. The acrylic striping diffuses the LED into a soft, even downlight without harsh glare.

Designed for kitchens, dining areas, bedrooms and bathrooms (IP20 rated for use in zones outside splash areas), the Ray works as single-point accent lighting over breakfast bars, side tables, or in corridors. The 180mm diameter makes it suitable for smaller ceiling heights where a larger pendant would feel heavy, and the white finish pairs with Scandinavian, contemporary and minimalist interiors. The satin polycarbonate diffuser behind the acrylic shade softens the LED output and reduces visible LED points when viewed from below.

The Ray is manufactured by Ideal Lux in Italy and carries a 5-year warranty. The integrated LED is non-replaceable but rated for 30,000+ hours typical use (approximately 15 years at 5 hours per day). The Ray carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for use in bathrooms outside splash zones (typically Zone 3, more than 600mm from taps or showers). It is not rated for use directly above baths or inside shower enclosures.

Is the cable length adjustable?

Yes. The 1550mm transparent PVC cable can be shortened during installation by an electrician. Once the cable is cut to length it cannot be extended again, so measure carefully before fitting.

What ceiling height does it suit?

With a 280mm drop plus the 1550mm cable, the Ray sits approximately 1830mm below the ceiling rose when hung at full length. For a 2.4m ceiling that puts the shade at roughly 570mm above floor level, which is too low for walkways. Most installations shorten the cable to hang the shade 1800-2100mm above floor level, suitable for ceilings of 2.1m or higher.
