Description
The Radiara-2 is a 144mm diameter recessed LED downlight with an integrated 20W COB (Chip on Board) LED module producing 4000K neutral white light. The die-cast aluminium trim sits flush with the ceiling surface once installed, leaving a 71mm aperture visible from below. The matt white finish blends into white or light-toned plasterboard ceilings without creating a visible edge.
Designed for commercial offices, retail spaces, kitchens and bathrooms where focused overhead light is needed, the downlight carries an IP44 rating on the front face, making it suitable for zones 2 and 3 in bathrooms and for kitchen installations where steam and moisture are present. The 20W output delivers clear task lighting for worktops, desk surfaces and circulation areas without the lamp flutter or warm-up delay of older fluorescent fittings.
The recessed installation requires a ceiling void depth of approximately 100mm to accommodate the driver and heat sink assembly behind the trim ring. The downlight is designed for plasterboard ceiling installation using spring clips that grip the back of the board, so no additional framework is needed. The 4000K colour temperature sits between warm white (2700K-3000K) and cool white (5000K-6500K), providing neutral light that does not skew colour perception in commercial environments.
The COB LED technology places multiple LED chips directly onto a substrate rather than using individual packaged diodes, creating a more uniform light source with fewer visible hotspots than older LED designs. The aluminium body acts as a passive heat sink, dissipating the operating heat generated by the 20W LED without requiring a cooling fan. This downlight is not dimmable.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is required?
Approximately 100mm of ceiling void depth is needed to accommodate the LED driver, heat sink and spring clip mounting system behind the trim ring. The downlight is designed for plasterboard ceiling installation.
Is it suitable for bathroom installation?
Yes. The IP44 front protection rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 600mm from the bath edge). It is not rated for zone 1 or zone 0 (inside the shower or directly above the bath).
Can it be used with a dimmer switch?
No. This downlight has a non-dimmable integrated LED driver. Connecting it to a dimmer circuit may cause flickering or damage to the driver.
What is the difference between 4000K and 3000K?
4000K is neutral white, resembling daylight at midday, and is commonly used in commercial offices and kitchens where colour accuracy matters. 3000K is warm white, closer to incandescent bulb tone, and is more common in residential living spaces and bedrooms.
