Quasar Outdoor Bollard Light GU10 - White

The Quasar is a 115mm diameter outdoor bollard light built from powder-coated die-cast aluminium with a white finish and a transparent sandblasted tempered glass diffuser. The bollard stands approximately 205mm from the mounting surface and houses a single GU10 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately). The sandblasted glass diffuses the light evenly across the surface, reducing glare while creating a soft wash along pathways or around garden features.

Designed for pathways, patio perimeters, driveways and garden borders, the Quasar carries an IP43 rating that protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and light water spray. This makes it suitable for most UK outdoor installations where the fitting is mounted clear of standing water. The white finish provides a neutral backdrop that pairs with both contemporary render and traditional brick exteriors. The bollard works well spaced at 2-3m intervals along a path or driveway to maintain even light coverage.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion better than pressed steel alternatives and the powder-coated finish bonds to the metal surface for long-term durability. The bollard is dimmable when paired with a compatible GU10 LED bulb and dimmer switch, allowing light levels to be adjusted for different times of evening or different outdoor uses. The tempered glass diffuser is impact-resistant and secures to the aluminium body with a weatherproof seal.

What bulb does the Quasar take?

The bollard takes a single GU10 bulb, sold separately. Most installations pair this with a 4-6W LED GU10 in 2700K-3000K warm white for pathway and garden lighting. The fitting is dimmable when used with a dimmable GU10 bulb and compatible dimmer switch.

Is it suitable for wet outdoor locations?

The IP43 rating protects against light water spray but not direct water jets or submersion. The bollard is suitable for pathways, driveways, patios and garden borders where it is not exposed to standing water or heavy downpours directly onto the fitting. Do not install where the fitting will be regularly hosed down or sit in pooled water.

How is it installed?

The Quasar mounts to a fixed surface using the base plate. Typical installations involve surface-mounting to a concrete base, paving slab or low wall. The electrical cable should be run through conduit or protected outdoor cabling rated for buried or external use. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

What spacing is recommended for pathway lighting?

For even pathway illumination, space bollards at 2-3m intervals along the path edge. Closer spacing (1.5-2m) works better for narrower paths or where higher light levels are needed for safety. The exact spacing depends on the GU10 bulb wattage and beam angle chosen.
