Description
The Quasar is a 1m outdoor bollard light built from powder-coated die-cast aluminium with a grey finish, a cylindrical column and a single adjustable GU10 lamp head. The head tilts on a ball joint at the top of the column, allowing light to be directed down onto pathways or angled towards planting and garden features. A sandblasted tempered glass diffuser inside the lamp head softens the output and reduces glare.
Designed for pathways, driveways, patios and garden borders, the Quasar suits residential and light commercial installations where directed task lighting is needed without the permanence of a fixed ground spike. The IP43 rating provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water spray from any direction, making the bollard suitable for open gardens, covered terraces and patios that receive rain exposure but not direct hosing or submersion. The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in UK coastal and urban environments.
The grey powder-coated finish is neutral enough to pair with both modern rendered facades and traditional brick or stone, and the cylindrical profile keeps the visual mass low in borders and beds where planting is the primary feature. The bollard takes a standard GU10 LED, halogen or CFL bulb up to the rated wattage (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose beam angle, colour temperature and brightness depending on the application. The adjustable head allows the same fitting to work as pathway lighting, accent lighting for trees or walls, or low-level wash lighting across gravel or paving.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take and is it dimmable?
The Quasar takes a standard GU10 bulb (sold separately). Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific GU10 bulb chosen and the dimmer switch model. LED GU10 bulbs labelled as dimmable will generally work with most domestic trailing-edge dimmers, but check bulb and dimmer specifications before pairing.
Can this be used on an exposed driveway or patio?
Yes. The IP43 rating protects against water spray from any direction, so the bollard is suitable for patios, driveways and open gardens that receive rain exposure. It is not rated for submersion, so avoid locations where standing water regularly pools around the base.
Can the lamp head be adjusted after installation?
Yes. The head tilts on a ball joint at the top of the column, allowing it to be angled downwards for pathway lighting or directed towards walls, planting or garden features. The joint can be adjusted by hand without tools.
What height is the bollard?
The column stands approximately 1m tall from ground to the top of the lamp head. This height provides adequate spread for pathway lighting without causing glare at eye level for seated or standing adults.
