The Prismatic 25mm honeycomb filter is a black aluminium accessory that clips onto compatible Ideal Lux Prismatic track light heads to reduce glare and control beam spread. The honeycomb cell structure restricts the angle at which light can exit the fitting, cutting off-axis spill and concentrating the beam into a tighter, more controlled pattern.

Designed for retail displays, gallery lighting and commercial spaces where directional control is needed, the filter allows light to pass straight through the cells while absorbing light that would otherwise scatter at wider angles. This produces cleaner edges on lit surfaces and reduces reflections on glossy materials, glass cabinets and framed artwork. The 25mm diameter fits the standard Prismatic track spotlight aperture and adds minimal projection to the track head once installed.

How much does the filter reduce light output?

Honeycomb filters absorb off-axis light that would otherwise contribute to glare and spill, so there is a reduction in total lumen output. The on-axis brightness (directly in front of the fitting) is largely preserved, while wide-angle light is cut. This makes the beam appear more focused rather than dimmer when viewed from the lit surface.

Can it be removed after installation?

Yes. The filter clips into the front bezel of the track head and can be removed by hand without tools. This allows lighting designers to trial the effect during commissioning and remove the filter if tighter beam control is not needed.

Does it affect the colour temperature of the light?

No. The black aluminium honeycomb structure controls beam angle but does not filter wavelengths, so the colour temperature of the LED or lamp inside the track head remains unchanged.
