Description
The PowerMaster 10W LED bulkhead is an outdoor wall light with an integrated photocell that switches the light on at dusk and off at dawn without manual intervention. The fitting houses a 10W SMD LED array behind a prismatic polycarbonate lens, delivering 900 lumens at 6000K daylight colour temperature. The black polycarbonate body and clear prismatic diffuser give the bulkhead a functional rather than decorative appearance.
Designed for covered outdoor areas including porches, carports, rear entrances, outbuildings and garage exteriors, the bulkhead carries an IP44 rating for protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The photocell sensitivity is factory-set and activates at approximately 10 lux ambient light level, meaning the bulkhead switches on during twilight and remains on through darkness. The 120-degree beam angle provides wide-area coverage suitable for pathway illumination and general security lighting.
The polycarbonate housing resists corrosion and impact better than acrylic or glass alternatives, and the prismatic lens diffuses the LED output to reduce glare while maintaining brightness. At 260mm depth, 112mm width and 110mm height, the bulkhead projects noticeably from the wall but stays within typical eaves clearance. The LED is integrated and non-replaceable, with a rated lifespan of 20,000 hours at typical outdoor operating temperatures.

Frequently Asked
Is this suitable for fully exposed outdoor installation?
The IP44 rating provides protection against water splashes from any direction but not against sustained water jets or submersion. The bulkhead is designed for installation under eaves, canopies, porches or other covered outdoor areas where it is sheltered from direct rainfall. For fully exposed positions, an IP65-rated fitting would be more appropriate.
Can the photocell be disabled or adjusted?
The photocell is integrated into the bulkhead and cannot be bypassed or adjusted without removing the cover and tampering with the internal wiring, which would void any warranty. The sensor activates at approximately 10 lux, which is standard for dusk-to-dawn photocells. If manual control is needed, the bulkhead should be wired through a switch on the supply side.
How bright is 900 lumens for outdoor use?
900 lumens at 6000K daylight temperature provides functional visibility across a 3-4m radius on a porch or pathway, sufficient for safe navigation and deterrent-level security lighting. It is not floodlight-bright but noticeably brighter than a typical 40W incandescent porch light. The prismatic lens spreads the output across the 120-degree beam, so there is no harsh central hotspot.
What is the expected lifespan?
The integrated LED array is rated for 20,000 hours of operation. If the photocell activates the bulkhead for an average of 10 hours per night, this equates to approximately 5.5 years of nightly use before the LED output drops below 70% of its initial brightness. The LED cannot be replaced, so the entire bulkhead would need replacing at end-of-life.
